DIN Updation

Director Identification Number (DIN) is a unique code required by directors of a company under the Companies Act, 2013, serving as a regulatory identifier for directorial details. E-form DIR-6 is typically used to notify changes in previously filed director details.

If there are changes in the information provided in form DIR-3/SPICe+ (application forms for DIN allotment), the concerned director can update these details using e-form DIR-6. For example, if a director changes their address, they must inform this change by submitting e-form DIR-6 along with necessary attested documents as prescribed.

What is DIN?
As per sections 153 and 154 of the Companies Act, 2013, any individual seeking to become a director must apply for a Director Identification Number (DIN) to the Central Government, accompanied by prescribed fees. The Central Government is required to allot the DIN within one month in accordance with the rules.

For a new company, DIN allotment is integrated into the SPICe+ e-form during incorporation.

For an existing company, an individual becoming a director must file e-form DIR-3.
